i approached this music & lyric as one happiest, saddest song. It narrated a single normal day, from morning till dawn, but the saddest thing was that that daily routine has been stretching into an unknown length, so long that even the character inside the song didn't even realize how long it has been any more. The monotonous life, repeating itself into a habit, sedated & dulled an otherwise happier life. But everything is going to change when the day the longing arrives.

On 20 August 1982, ABBA recorded "The Day Before You Came". It was their final song for 35 years. In a way, it will always be that swan song, which ended those first ten years. It captured ABBA’s artistic and personal lives at that specific point in time in an uncanny, haunting and mysterious way.
