Long before these karaoke sites were around, there was JOLT Forum on karaoke.com that many of us used to frequent to chat, argue etc. about karaoke and other things. We used to have JOLT projects where one of us would say, "OK, I'm going to do a project about X" and then everyone who was interested would mail a tape or CD of themselves singing a few songs with their karaoke machine or whatever. And then the person would compile them into an album and send us all copies. We had country, disco, showtunes, 60's songs, multiple decades, colors...all sorts of themes. It was a lot of fun. This was, of course, before there was much streaming on the internet. Anyway, one of the people who participated sometimes was Alan Zukof. He was a very nice guy with an amazing tenor voice. Here is a duet that he and I did. This was sometime around 25 years ago. Sorry for the weird sound at the beginning. I don't know if the tape got warped or what. Later, most of us became Facebook friends. Alan had just posted on January 18, so it was a shock to learn that he had passed away Feb. 10, just shy of his 68th birthday. He was very active in his community and his synagogue as well as on Facebook. He had over 3,000 Facebook friends. He will be missed. I wish I had gotten to know him IRL and had been able to sing with him more.
