Jerry: Years ago I was great friends with a fellow named: Old Man Creek. He had no major boat to sing from so he sat on a tree limb and spat on people fishing nearby and laugh. After years of building a reputation, someone shot him...with a BB gun and knocked him out of that tree. He needed a boat like your guy...so you could sing/talk about him too. Love this classic and your performance!

Keith Wallin: @qwirky. We were in New Orleans for an Elks National convention in 1995. Lynn and I went on a Dixieland Jazz Cruise of the Mississippi on a riverboat. It was a blast! The first time I heard this song, Frank Sinatra sang it. Then I heard the incomparable Paul Robeson singing this in Showboat. Great song choice, Rich! Very much enjoyed. Very entertaining....:-)
