Kenny Rogers from 1984. This song gets me deep into thought every time I hear it and there is that reference to 1964 having been twenty years ago, which 1964 is now just a year away from 60 years ago. Also worthwhile to note, on the Kenny Rogers album version listen closely to the chorus (it's blended well) and you might notice that Kenny is joined by another voice. That's Bill Champlin who was with the band Chicago at the time. According to the story I've heard Bill was pulled into the recording because Kenny wanted a background singer and Bill happened to be at the studio at the time.

Anyhow, my personal journey with this song. It seems like we are always growing as singers doesn't it? I've always really liked this song and tried and tried to get it down about 10 years ago because I thought that I should be able to do it, and I wanted to post it to a karaoke site that is no longer around. Eventually I gave up on it. I tried a few other KR songs, but it just wasn't happening for me at the time.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and the song through the years is stuck in my head, I was able sing that song fine and I've uploaded it here, after my duet with Bev, Don't fall in love with a dreamer, and that went so well, I thought I'd give twenty years ago another try. I hit the mic, and it felt like it just flowed. Sometimes when I sit at the microphone I can try and try, other times it just happens. This one just happened, it felt so good singing it and felt so right.
