Tell me an Old Time Christmas Story
of the days gone by...
This ol' memory of mine, sort of, comes and goes
But they's some things I still remember fine

I guess the memories that mean the most
are stored in the heart, not in the mind

That's why we're all together
That's why there's Christmas day

Christmas together in our family
hasn't changed much at'all

We'uns start lookin' forward to it,
way back in the fall
cause if the good lord is a willin'

I don't care how bad the weather
Christmas is the one time of year
we all spend together.

Now Ma start's a bakin'
I set out to find a tree.

It seems like that's the one job
that's always left to me

Then when they all start arriving
you can just feel the spirit mount

Every year there's a few more gran younguns
heh heh, I give up trying to count

Christmas eve after supper
we all help trim the tree
then all the kiddies gather round
there's a couple on my knee.

Grand-ma smiles from her rockin' chair
She knows I'm in my glory.

How angels sang, of a Christ child
The news spread near and far.
The three wise men who came to seek
were guided by a star.

They found him there, in a manger.
A sleep on a bed of hay.
That's why we're all together.
That's why there's a Christmas day

By this time, their little heads would start to nod
Then off to bed they'ed go.
Hopin' Santa wouldn't have no trouble
A getting through the snow

Then they'd have us up a the crack of dawn
We'd gather round the tree
heh heh, yeh I get the usual pair of socks
that Grand-ma knits for me

Naw, Christmas in our family
hasn't changed at'all
When we sat down to dinner,
we offer thanks for all,
for if the good lord's a willin'

I don't care how bad the weather

Christmas day is the one time of the year
