Bernie Paul began his career in the 1960s as a saxophonist in the band Seven Up. In 1973, he became a member of the group Family Child. In 1978, he signed a recording contract with Ariola , and his first hit, "Lucky," reached number 6 in the German singles chart and the Austrian charts . A German cover version by Roy Black was released that same year . "In Dreams" reached number 18 in Germany in February 1981.

Paul's biggest hit was in June 1981 with the disco fox song " Oh No No ," which reached number two in the German charts. Shortly afterward, Wencke Myhre sang the German version , "Oh No No - Du bist nicht mein Typ, das weiß ich exact..." (You're not my type, I know exactly... ). There were other international versions by Sacha Distel and the Finnish singer Kirka .

Paul has also achieved success as a songwriter and producer. He wrote "It's a Real Good Feeling" for Peter Kent and produced the single "Weil i di mog" by the band Relax . He wrote the song "Sail Away" for a Beck's advertisement and the piece "Mitten ins Herz" from the RTL television series "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" . In 1990, his song " You for Me and Me for You" became the theme song for the RTL Wimbledon broadcast. Paul's first German-language album, "Einfach Relaxed" , was released in 2002 .
