"Lonesome 7-7203" is a country music song written by Justin Tubb and recorded by Hawkshaw Hawkins.

It became a posthumous hit for Hawkins after he died in a plane crash, along with Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas.

The song's story centers around a man who's tired of receiving calls for his ex-girlfriend and wants to let her know his new phone number, "Lonesome 7-7203".

The lyrics tell the story of a man who's fed up with calls intended for his ex-girlfriend.

He's gotten a new phone number and wants her to know it, hoping she'll call and rekindle their relationship.

Hawkshaw Hawkins was a popular country music singer who died tragically in a plane crash three days after releasing "Lonesome 7-7203".

Justin Tubb, son of the well-known country singer Ernest Tubb, wrote the song.

Jean Shepard, Hawkshaw Hawkins's wife and also a country music singer, had actually recorded the song for Capitol Records about a year before Hawkshaw recorded it, but it was never released.

Hawkins later told her that he would record it if Capitol didn't release it.

Despite Hawkshaw Hawkins's death, the song became a major hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart,

Keith Wallin: @tlsteel1952 If you look at most of the plane crashes involving celebrities, you'll find the greatest majority of the planes that crashed were single engine aircraft. Additionally, a lot of the crashes involved the pilot not being instrument rated and flying in poor visibility. Moral of the story...stay out of single engine aircraft with inexperienced pilots. Glad you enjoyed my rendition, Tom! Appreciate the listen and the kudos.Have a super weekend....:-)
