@joyce Thank you! Yes, from what I know, French and Spanish are usually the two main choices for additional language learning in school in the US. Unfortunately, you probably didn't have too many opportunities to continue using it. This has happened to me with another language too! Anyway, no, the title of the song is a metaphor in French, it pretty much means "I feel sorrow/grief, because I'm no longer with you". Like someone feeling sick (mal) because they are away from someone they love.
