I first heard this song when used in a radio commercial for hair coloring way back when I was a child .Written by Van Dyke Parks, who also wrote songs with Brian Wilson.

Sunshine pop group Harpers Bizarre,recorded this as the opening track on their debut album, Feelin' Groovy. Parks himself was present on the album's recording sessions, and he plays keyboard on the track. This version reached #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Just a few years back, I rediscovered the song itself.
