I had little gal,
she lived on a farm.
had corn in her crib,
she had hay in the barn

A poor ol' cow,
she milked everyday
she wouldn't
sell milk and butter
like to give it away

and pigs in the pen
sugar in the bowl
and flour in the bin

This gal of mine,
she lived away down south.
She had plenty of meat
in her smokehouse.

She wouldn't sell it
just liked to give it away.

She got tired of the country
wouldn't farm no more,
She moved to town,
got a job in a store,

was doing fine,
til one day when
they found her giving goods
away to the men

so they fired her
for giving everything away

Well, she lost her job
but she didn't care
Went to a honky-tonk
to drink some beer

drank some whiskey
and some home brew too
goodness knows
what it made her do
