Eric Clapton described the song as an anti -cocaine and anti-drug song. Eric Clapton once died of heroin poisoning and came back to life. He even ran away before being arrested. Because of this, in the 1970s, Clapton was in rehab, gradually cutting back on his drugs.

However, when his rehabilitation was not as easy as it sounds, he covered this song to let people know how scary drug addiction can be. However, even after the release of this song, he continued to suffer from alcoholism and drug addiction due to his promiscuous personal life and musical slump.

He is currently engaged in the drug rehabilitation center business and is showing good shape. Many did not know that this is an anti-cocaine song. Eric was attempting to tell people what the effects are and what it can do to you. That the addiction can and has been elemental!

I have an addictive personality. That is why, thankfully, I never went near the stuff! I am an alcoholic. Which means once you are, you will always be one. But I found God and asked him to take away the constant calling.

The next day, I didn't even like the smell or taste of alcohol and haven't touched a drop in almost forty years! Praise God! Anyway, enough of my personal stuff. Here is my cover of this great song. Thank you for your listen and comments.
