Read here first:
The is about a man who is to meet his love on the riverbank by the old oak tree. Instead, he finds only her glove and a note.
Having read the note, he cries assuming she committed suicide by drowning herself in the river!
With his emotion running wild with shock, he says to himself: "the river is more deadly, than even the vainest knife".
Her note explains she had cheated on him but couldn't lie to him again! And she could: "no longer hurt him with this sin.
She couldn't lie and tell him: 'that guy was just a friend'."
He looks again into the river and sees his reflection in the water...with only his lonely face is looking back, and weeps!

Aragorn:
@jerry Yeah, I always was puzzled that this song sounds so optimistic musically, but the story is absolutely heart crushing. Frankly, it deeply affects me, even if it is just a tale. Your cover is top shelf, excellent and ourtstanding, buddy!

@jerry This is a song I mentioned to you awhile back that would be perfect for you. It's a song that was in my older siblings collection and as a child I was haunted by it.. the piano. Glad you chose this one..Right on target.

Cash: She called, but I could almost not understand a single word, as she had an extreme gargling sound to her words. I asked her to paint a picture of what she was saying but she could not because her hands "just wouldn't get dry" and it ruined her paintings! I told her." that's OK, it's water under the bridge now" and she thanked me for understanding. As we were hanging up, I said: WHAT?? Thanks for saving her!.
