"Carolina in My Mind" is a classic folk-rock song written and performed by James Taylor. Written in 1968 while Taylor was recording in London, the song is an expression of deep homesickness for his childhood home in North Carolina.

Taylor wrote the track while recording his debut album for The Beatles' Apple Records in London. While he was thrilled to be labelmates with his idols, he suffered from intense homesickness. He sketched out the song's initial ideas in a London flat and finished it while stranded on the Spanish island of Ibiza with a girl he had just met.

Because the song was recorded at the same time and in the same studio as The White Album, it features some high-profile guest musicians. The original 1968 recording famously features Paul McCartney on bass guitar and an uncredited George Harrison on backing vocals.
