Jerry Vale (born Gennaro Louis Vitaliano; July 8, 1930 – May 18, 2014) was an American traditional pop singer renowned for his romantic ballads and Italian-American standards. In his early life, Jerry Vale was born Gennaro Louis Vitaliano in the Bronx, New York, to Italian immigrant parents, Louis and Philamina “Fanny” Covino Vitaliano.

He grew up in the Wakefield neighborhood, a hub for Italian-American families, and was exposed to Italian folk music and community performances from a young age. To help support his family, he began working as a shoeshine boy at age 11, singing Italian songs to attract customers and earn tips. He attended High School but left early to work in factories alongside his father.

He began performing professionally as a teenager in supper clubs and local nightclubs. His s early nightclub performances led to a management contract with Paul Insetta, who introduced him to Columbia Records and producer Mitch Miller. His first recording, "You Can Never Give Me Back My Heart", reached No. 29 on the Billboard Top 100, followed by "Two Purple Shadows", which peaked at No. 20. Vale became known for his smooth tenor voice and romantic ballads, achieving hits such as "You Don't Know Me" (1956), "Innamorata (Sweetheart)" (1956), and "Al Di Là" (1962).
He embraced his Italian heritage in albums like I Have But One Heart (1962) and Arrivederci, Roma (1963), featuring Italian standards such as "Amore, Scusami", "Ciao, Ciao, Bambina", and "O Sole Mio".

Over his career, he released 39 studio albums and 85 singles, many of which charted on Billboard's Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts.
Film and Television: Vale appeared in films and television, often portraying himself or characters reflecting his Italian-American roots. Notable appearances include Goodfellas (1990), Casino (1995), Donnie Brasco (1997), Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000), and the HBO series The Sopranos. His music was also featured in Martin Scorsese film soundtracks.

Personal Life:
Vale married Rita Grapel in 1959, and they had two children, Robert and Pamela. He was a close friend of Frank Sinatra.
