It was released in October 2005 as second single from his album Time Well Wasted and is his 14th career single . The song features harmony vocals from Dolly Parton. The song was Parton's 25th and final Billboard No. 1 before her death in 2026, and Paisley's fifth.

Mark Foote: @markstunes hi tom. This songs message was amazing. True to the way I feel and believe. I too wish to fly . I too am still at a loss about Dolly. She and Brad did this 20 years ago. Just imagine how he must feel of her loss. My daughter lives outside of Nashville and down there, loosing Dolly was a immense loss to their community. My sincere pleasure sharing their amazing song. I may even request this for my celebration of life. Thank you Tom.
