when I hear the name Earnie Tubb,,, I think of my old Friend Willard Weaver ( Bo Weevil ) who I just called Weed, not from the plant from his first name, a boyhood nick name he liked. Well Weed was going with my Mother, he had played Fiddle for several an Tubb was last one,, Weed could make a fiddle talk.. but he drank to much an when he called Nashville once a month, they told him they loved him,, but no, he couldn't come back... well I said Im going to Newport an get a boat, go back to fishing. Weed said sounds great. my mother said: you fellas go ahead, next month I'll come down, rent an apartment. so Weed an I went to newport,, We leased a yacht to live on,,. an my old partner had leased a trooler. Well Doyal (Rex Allen Jr.) lead guitar, had quit the road an he wanted to go fishing,, Bob sang an picked the Banjo.. when in port we made music at the Abby ( a bar) ,, well Doyal an Weed gave up fishing, well kinda gave it up.. an started playing at the Dunes,, Well Weed started drinking again.. But last time I seen him was Reno, he had give up the bottle an was playing the fiddle again,,, when i say he could make it talk, i mean he had sounds come from it,, ya wouldn't think possible, I could tell Weed stories all day God Bless Him...
