This song was written by songwriting legends Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Barbra Streisand appeared on Bacharach’s 1971 TV special: Singer Presents Burt Bacharach to sing this socially conscious song, but it was first released by Dionne Warwick in 1972. I personally love the moral message of this song, however when i gave it to a friend to listen to, his reply was less than lukewarm, saying the melody was dated, and the lyric was not sufficient to make an impact.
